Roadmaster Flat Tow Wiring Harness - RM-76517

  • Fuse Bypass
  • Bypasses Vehicle Wiring
  • Roadmaster
  • Custom Fit

We highly recommend this fuse bypass switch if you need to deactivate a fuse when you flat tow. It's a huge pain to pull the fuse by hand every time, and you risk losing or damaging it. With this kit, you just have to flip a switch.

Features:

  • Keeps battery from draining with the flip of a switch
    • Deactivates the fuse while flat towing
  • Saves you the hassle of removing the fuse by hand
  • Stores fuse so that you won't lose or damage it
  • Mounts in dashboard and connects to fuse box
  • Includes fuse controller, wiring harnesses, ring terminals, spade connectors, and installation hardware
    • Fuse controller allows the high current fuse to be turned on/off without sending high current through the switch
  • Application: 50-amp FMX fuse
  • Made in the USA

Note: Consult your owner's manual to determine which fuse to pull.

Do I Need a Fuse Bypass Switch?

Technically, it is optional, but if you need to pull a fuse on your vehicle when you flat tow, this kit will make your life so much easier. Instead of popping the hood and fishing a tiny fuse out of your battery compartment every time you flat tow (not to mention putting it back again), you can just flip a switch. No dead battery, no lost fuse, no damaged fuse, no headache.

When the switch is in the drive position, the fuse will be active and your car will function normally. When you're ready to flat tow, you'll flip the switch to the tow setting and deactivate the fuse. This allows you to tow your vehicle without the battery draining.

It has worked great!!

by:

Better than opening the hood every time we tow.

by:

Product works well and as intended.

by:

As always great help fast delivery and a wonderful staff!

by:

It would be nice if you could send directions in written form,I have not used it due to lack of written directions,

by:

Ordered Friday and arrived Monday. Terrific. Taking to installer today. Thanks

by:

Good quality, complete kit, fairly easy to install once you watch the videos

by:

Does what it is intended to do. Took a little time to install but it came with all the instructions I required, and it all looks and works great!

by:

Wire kit has been working good for a year now.

by:

This has saved us so much time! Popping the hood and physically pulling the fuses on our vehicle every time we stop gets old quickly. This system was easy to install with the step-by-step video and works flawlessly.

by:

Easy enough to install on 2010 Chevy Equinox LT. Very clear directions and video was very helpful. (Thanks etrailer for all the good videos) Have not towed yet but seems to be exactly what I need. Much better than pulling fuses.

by:

The product was ok other than the switch. It is hard to tell if it is on or off. I wound up just using the fuse holder as it is easier to pull the fuse out. Other than that was great service.

by:

Roadmaster made sure I had the right part for my car , they also out fitted many years ago my 2013 Equinox with everything I needed for towing behind my RV. Thanks Roadmaster

by:

The connections at the fuse panel were difficult to tell which was hot.

The instructions say the thick black wire is the cold side and the large red wire is the hot.

The best customer service from Melissa, and her manager. Delivery and follow up was the best as always. Will continue to purchase from etrailer in the future. This is the way all companies should conduct business.

by:

Works great and allows me to tow with vehicle stability turned on; no more death wobble! Installation instructions were clear and it fit perfectly.

by:

Easy to install

by:

I ordered one of these and had it installed by one of the providers suggested by etrailer.com. It didn't work but I can't get a refund since too much time had passed between the time that I ordered and the time I had it installed. I could order a second one though and try to replace possibly defective parts in the first and could return the second for a refund. However, the second one doesn't work either. The tech talked with Roadmaster and they were stumped as to the issue too. Roadmaster is going to send yet a third bypass switch directly to shop to see if this one will work. Basically, I am out of a whole bunch of money and still do not have a fuse bypass. I should have just kept pulling the fuse manually as I had been doing!

by:

Installed as per installation video and all went great.

Towed over 7000km last year with no problems. It is great to not have to pull fuses anymore.

by:

Ordered and install base plate over a year ago and finally got to use it a couple of weeks ago because motorhome was in shop waiting on parts. Pandemic and supply chain issues. Anyway, the base plate and accessories work great. Dinghy tracks well. Hardly know it’s back there.

by:

Nothing buy trouble. Poor engineering on my 2013 Equinox model. Might be fine for others. It did not isolate the parasitic power drain, even with a 12 volt power supply from the RV.

Hi Scott, the FuseMaster will only remove the need to unplug and reinsert your fuse for flat towing. If you have a 4-cylinder, you will need to leave fuse DLIS #32 intact and pull the ABS module fuse located under the hood. Please note, due to manufacturing variances some 4-cylinder models may label the ABS module fuse as #15 or #16. You will also need to install a charge wire kit, # RM-156-25. This information is current as of November 20, 2017. Contact the vehicle manufacturer for further updates.

Good instructions and easy to instal tnx to Lori AB for putting my order together

by:

First off the chat rep sent me a complete list of everything that I would need to flat tow a 2015 Equinox so I made the $[XX]+ purchase from their list. After two full days installing all the items needed in the towed vehicle I try and attach it to RV and the connection can not be made. The tow bar will not fit into the base plate attaching points. I immediately (7/21) open a chat to let them know that they recommended the wrong parts and the rep agrees that a mistake was made and says that they will upgrade the shipping of the correct tow bar without charge so that I can have the tow bar a full day before my trip to test the complete install. I follow through with them after getting my order confirmation and it states that expected delivery is 7/22 so even though I needed to purchase a second two bar and wait for a refund on the first tow bar I am satisfied with the handling of the situation and comfortable with the full day to test the parts. On 7/22 I track the package only to see an expected delivery date of 7/23 so I immediately open up a chat and they proceed to tell me that there is nothing that they can do because it is already shipped. Then they go on to tell me that I agreed to 2-day shipping, which I did not. The previous rep told me that they would upgrade the shipping because it was their mistake. The normal Free Shipping is only a two day delivery to my area so an upgrade would mean next day shipping. I requested a full copy of the chat transcript to see where I specifically agreed to 2-Day shipping and they did not send me the transcript. I definitely regret giving this company my money. Their staff needs a lot more training to say the least. First they recommend the wrong parts so they are no expert in their field. Then they force me to purchase the replacement part fully knowing that the mistake was theirs. Then they can not follow through on their agreement to expedite the replacement part. Finally when confronted they proceed to put the blame on the customer as well as shrug their shoulders and say that there is nothing that they can do. Save yourself time, money and aggravation. Shop somewhere else where your business is actually appreciated.

by:

The most difficult part was finding a spot in the firewall to run the wire for the remote switch.

by:

This was a replacement for the one that failed after 7 years of use.
Easy to change as I used all the existing wiring and just used the relay and now it works great again.
Nice to see replacement was easy and didn’t require re wiring anything.
